MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT
General Information
This event is held roughly once per year and is an opportunity young people aged between 8 - 18 years old to take part as a team in an Adventure Race based on the international standard races held throughout the world. However the event is designed specifically for young competitors with particular emphasis on the safety of all participants.
The event is organised and run entirely by volunteers and takes many months to organise. Each year the event includes several new elements, however as the competitors do not know the route in advance there will be some surprises along the way. The course will include the following elements;
- Trail running
- Coasteering
- Water Jump
- Swimming (Less than 50m for Junior teams)
- Gorge Scrambling
- Rope Ladders, Cargo Nets & Fixed Lines
- Mountain Biking (Off road)
- Kayaking (Intermediate & Senior Teams only)
- High element skills (Seniors only - will use Safety Harnesses)
- Plus a range of mystery tests
Teams
Junior Teams (U9, U10 & U11) will have 3 team members per team. Intermediate Teams (U12 & U13) will have 2 team members per team, & Senior Teams (U14, U16 & U18) will have 2 team members per team
Trophies will be awarded to the fastest teams in each age group for Boys, Girls and Mixed teams
Briefings and Bike Check and Registration
We will be holding full briefings about the event for all competitors, and we will also provide an additional briefing (without the competitors) for parents and volunteers where we will provide detailed information about the route and activities planned for the event.
Volunteers
Our aim is to make the race an exciting and challenging event, but our overall priority is SAFETY. To help ensure this we need volunteers to serve in many different roles on the day, and your contribution will be of great value. There are many roles including Marshalling, checkpoint staff, admin staff, Set up and clearing equipment, photographers and videographers, and many others.
Equipment
Following is the list of equipment needed for the race and we recommend that competitors check their equipment at least 1 week before the race to ensure all items are OK.
- Bike Helmet
- Mountain Bike (rentals from Leo Bikes in Mui Wo - Tel 2984 2002 or email: leoland1001@yahoo.com.hk)
- Lightweight Windproof Jacket
- Small Lightweight Rucsack
- Water Container or 'CamelBak' with at least 0.7 Litre capacity (Water or Sports drink)
- Food (Snacks and/or sweets)
- Training shoes suitable for rock scrambling
- Gloves (Full finger recommended)
